Growing your own "Produce Incidentalis"

So…  you’ve found curb corn.  Or you’ve found some other kinds of curb produce.

Or you planted it, then came back and “found” it later – that’s OK!

What counts as “Curb Corn?”

  • Farm Corn, Feed Corn, or the “Corn Like Weeds” of urban lore (link: sfgate)
  • Any food crop found growing out of place, in concrete, on curbs, construction sites
  • Any out of place plant that you feel could have it’s own food security fundraiser, or boost someone else’s

What do you do now?

  1. Take pictures.
  2. Find a local food bank or registered food security charity that accepts donations.
  3. Register your campaign at Custom Ink Fundraising, or any other respected fundraising site, or
  4. Tell us who’s fundraiser you are supporting.
  5. Announce your find on social media. On twitter – tag @curbcorn so we know you’re here.

We’ll help you raise awareness of your campaign!

As your campaign grows, we recommend daily “Proof of Life” visits. This helps remind your social audience that your campaign exists, and also helps make sure your local incidentalis-variety is still as alive today as it was yesterday.

Three of the first three Curb-Corn sites suffered “weed whacking” incidents, with only one known survivor. Visit often.

Make sure to let your local news outlets know that you are now participating in a Curb Corn fundraiser!
